Welcome to “The Monday Club”

Gerry is back with a brand-new original release, “The Monday Club”, a lively, feel-good tune written by Al McQuilkin. Al is well known to many as the talented guitarist and steel guitarist who plays and tours with Mike Denver, McQuilkin brings his sharp storytelling and deep understanding of Irish country life to this upbeat track.

 

“The Monday Club” celebrates a time-honoured tradition familiar across Ireland and beyond – when musicians, bartenders, and weekend workers finally clock off and gather on a Monday for well-earned pints and plenty of craic. While most people are settling back into the working week, this tight-knit crowd is only getting started, swapping stories from the weekend’s gigs, sharing laughs, and keeping the music alive in their own informal way.

 

With its catchy melody, toe-tapping rhythm, and warm humour, Guthrie delivers the song with charm and authenticity. “The Monday Club” perfectly captures the camaraderie, relief, and simple joy of friendship that comes when the working weekend ends and the real social night begins.
